On 29th August 2017 most Mumbaikars felt that history would be repeated. The events of 26th July 2005 are still afresh as the city had taken almost a week to recover back then. Several areas in the city were filled with chest deep water. Quite a few people stayed back in their office. The ones who left for home during the day reached late in the night. But the dogged spirit of Mumbai held strong and the city bounced back the next day itself.
Generous people of this great city came to fore to help each other out. People opened their doors to strangers, served them food and gave them shelter till the heavy showers subsided and it was safe to venture out once again. Unfortunately, a few denizens of the city also lost their lives.
It was also the time the riders of Shadowfax made sure that essentials were delivered to their destinations. Our riders turned into heroes as they made sure food, grocery and pharmaceuticals reached people in their hour of need. “This is our job, baarish toh aati rahegi; it was raining very heavily and there was too much water on the roads, it got very difficult to even ride the bike,” said Dinesh Makwana, Shadowfax rider who delivered more than 35 orders that day.

We doff our hat to the team who worked without a break behind the scenes directing the riders through safe roads. But above all, we salute the spirit of our riders, who braved the weather and delivered well over 3,000 orders across Mumbai. “I did a 14-hour shift as there were not many delivery boys available and delivered around 30 food orders, said Rahul Vishwakarma, another Shadowfax rider.
“We owe a lot to our brave riders as their deeds are critical to not only our credibility but also that of our clients. They are consummate professionals who serve with a smile even if it requires them to be away from their families when a festive mania grips this crazy city,” said Krunal Sodha, City Head — Mumbai at Shadowfax.
Our riders become the anonymous backbone that enables our clients like Big Basket to not let their customers down by fulfilling orders come hell or high water. “Our relentless focus on engineering pleasant experiences for the customers is driven by these riders who incessantly work towards making us the most desirable and trustworthy delivery platform,” concluded Subodh Salvi, Zonal Manager — Mumbai at Shadowfax.
