You have products, a store and your first order. What you don't have yet is a way to get a parcel out of your door. A quick sign-up form is easy to judge, but a login is not the same as being ready to ship. You are ready when a real parcel can be collected from your address and delivered to your customer's PIN code, and you know who to contact if a step fails.

Which Shipping Partner Should a New Online Seller Start With?

If you want one company to collect and deliver your parcels, start with our Shadowfax 360 (SF 360). You register online with your email and a one-time password (OTP) or with Google, verify your business with GST or Aadhaar, add funds to your shipping wallet and schedule a free doorstep pickup. There is no monthly platform fee and no minimum order, so your first real shipment can be your test.

Judge any starting option by six things: registration, business verification, payment, pickup from your address, delivery to your customer's PIN code and the help available when a step fails. The easiest sign-up is not always the fastest first dispatch; the first collected parcel is what counts.

Postal Booking, an Aggregator, or a Direct Courier: How Do They Differ?

Postal booking, a multi-carrier shipping aggregator and a direct courier account such as our Shadowfax 360 differ in who collects your parcel, who you deal with when something goes wrong and how much carrier choice you manage yourself.

  • Postal booking. You book through the postal network, usually at a counter. Business-account terms are separate from counter booking, so ask separately about doorstep collection, cash on delivery (COD) and whether you qualify for business rates.
  • A shipping aggregator. One platform shows several courier companies, and you choose among them route by route. Before signing up, ask whether the platform or the courier handles a missed pickup, a billing dispute or a return.
  • A direct courier account. Your relationship is with the company that collects and delivers your parcels. Our Shadowfax 360 is a self-serve digital shipping platform with one dashboard connected to the Shadowfax logistics network. It is not a multi-carrier aggregator, so the network that picks up your parcel is the one you book with and contact.

For a fuller side-by-side, compare postal booking, an aggregator and a direct courier.

Six Checks That Decide How Fast You Reach a First Pickup

How quickly any courier gets a new D2C seller to a first pickup depends on your documents, your pickup address and your customers' locations, not on the sign-up form alone. In our Shadowfax 360, you complete each step online in your own account, then book your first pickup once verification and wallet funds are in place. Run these six checks on any option you shortlist:

  1. Registration. Can you create the account online yourself? Online sign-up gets you a login; support may still be needed if information is missing or the account needs a review.
  2. Business verification (KYC). Which documents are accepted, and what can you do while a check is pending? Verification, not registration, decides when a new account can start booking shipments.
  3. Payment. Do you prepay through a wallet, pay a subscription or get billed later? Work out how much cash you need before your first booking.
  4. Pickup from your address. Confirm collection from your full address, especially if you ship from home. A generated label is a booking record, not proof that a pickup will happen.
  5. Delivery to your customer's PIN code. Check whether delivery is available for your real customer PIN codes (this is called serviceability), and for COD if you offer it. A large coverage figure does not mean delivery to every address.
  6. Help when a step fails. Find out how to report a missed pickup, a rejected document or a parcel that hasn't been scanned, before your customer starts asking.

How Shadowfax 360 Covers Each Check

Shadowfax 360 is a courier account you can open online yourself, built for registered ecommerce, D2C and small businesses, including sellers on their own website, Instagram or WhatsApp. One company collects and delivers your parcels, and you manage orders, pickups, tracking and COD from one dashboard. Here is how each check works in your account:

  • Registration: You sign up with your email and an OTP, or with Google, then add your business details and confirm them via OTP.
  • Verification: You verify your business with GST or Aadhaar details. Once verification is complete, you can recharge your wallet and book shipments. If KYC is pending, add the missing GST or Aadhaar details; opening a second account won't fix a missing document.
  • Payment: You add money to your shipping wallet and shipments are charged against it. There is no monthly platform fee and no minimum order, so you can start with a single shipment.
  • Pickup: We collect from your warehouse or store at no extra charge, with flexible pickup windows. If you ship from home, check that collection is available from your residential address.
  • Delivery reach: We deliver to 16,372+ PIN codes across 2,500+ cities, with same-day delivery, next-day delivery and standard services. Check serviceability for each route before you promise a delivery date.
  • COD: There is no COD charge. We remit COD payments to sellers within two business days after successful delivery (D+2), subject to banking timelines. The clock starts at delivery, not at booking.
  • Help: If a pickup is missed, or a collected parcel hasn't been scanned, contact our support with the shipment reference and handover details to resolve or reschedule it.

You can connect a Shopify or WooCommerce store so orders sync automatically, or add orders one at a time or in bulk. To begin, open Shadowfax 360 registration.

When Postal Booking or an Aggregator Fits Your First Parcels

A direct account with Shadowfax 360 suits a new seller who wants one network to collect, deliver and answer for each parcel. Postal booking can fit if you send only a few parcels and are happy to take them to a nearby post office counter. An aggregator fits if choosing a different courier company for each route matters more to you than dealing with one network. Whichever you pick, a second option can cover a destination your main provider does not serve, without moving every order.

Your Readiness Test: Ship One Real Order

Before you promise customers a dispatch date, take one order all the way through in your account. Enter the customer's details, check the quote, create the label, book the pickup and wait until tracking shows the parcel has been collected. That collection scan is the point your account is ready. For each step, follow our guide to ship your first order with Shadowfax 360.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does online sign-up mean I can ship the same day?

Not on its own. Verification, your wallet balance, pickup from your address and delivery to your customer's PIN code all need to be in place first.

Can I ship orders that come in through Instagram or WhatsApp?

Yes. In Shadowfax 360, you enter the confirmed customer details as a single or bulk order. Don't assume messages are imported automatically; collect the full address, phone number and payment choice first.

What if my parcel was collected but tracking hasn't updated?

Contact support with the shipment reference and your handover details. Don't book a duplicate shipment while the first parcel is already with the delivery partner.

What does RTO mean?

Return to origin (RTO) means an undelivered parcel is sent back to you. This is different from a customer returning an item after delivery. Shadowfax 360 handles RTO at no additional charge.
