This World Environment Day serves as a reminder that sustainability can no longer be a secondary goal; it must be integrated into the way we move, deliver, and grow. As India’s delivery needs become faster, greener, and more tech-driven, Shadowfax is leading the shift with one of the country’s fastest-growing EV fleets. Every new electric vehicle we deploy helps cut emissions, reduce noise pollution, and build greener delivery networks across our cities.

With 7000+ active EVs currently on the road and an aggressive roadmap to scale to 15,000+ by the end of this year, Shadowfax is redefining last-mile delivery services with cleaner, smarter, and more efficient logistics solutions.

Why Electric Vehicles in Logistics Matter

The logistics service sector contributes significantly to urban emissions due to its dense delivery network. With the rapid rise of e-commerce, quick commerce (Q-commerce), and personal courier services, Indian logistics companies are facing increasing pressure to adopt sustainable models.

Electric vehicles offer a clear advantage:

  • Zero emissions
  • Lower operating costs
  • Improved efficiency for dense urban routes
  • Quiet and smooth rides that are ideal for high-frequency deliveries
  • Enables partners who don’t have access to vehicles to this big ecosystem

By integrating EVs into its operations, Shadowfax is helping reduce the carbon footprint of India’s delivery services while also supporting the country’s broader sustainability goals.

Inside Shadowfax’s EV Fleet Expansion

Shadowfax is increasing its EV fleet by 500–600 units each month, a pace that positions it as a frontrunner among Indian logistics companies embracing green delivery solutions. Currently, EVs power around 25% of Shadowfax's Q-Commerce deliveries and contribute to 7-8% of its total delivery volumes. The goal is to achieve 15% of all deliveries via EVs by the end of this year.

This expansion isn’t just about numbers. It’s about strategic placement and operational efficiency:

  • Active in 7 major cities: Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, NCR, and Jaipur
  • Planned expansion to 15–18 cities, including Tier 2 cities, by year-end
  • Tailored EV models: Both chargeable battery EVs and swappable battery EVs are in operation, giving flexibility and uptime to delivery partners
  • State of the Art EV Experience Centers: These are special hubs where delivery partners can test vehicles, meet and learn from other DPs, get help with any issues, and pick up useful tips. They also serve as deployment zones where new EVs are rolled out.

Empowering Delivery Partners with EV Access

Shadowfax believes in making logistics inclusive and future-ready. That’s why the EV fleet isn’t just an internal capability, it's an opportunity for delivery partners to earn better while contributing to a cleaner environment.

Here’s how:

  • EVs are available for rent to all interested Shadowfax Delivery Partners
  • Experience Centres and Hubs serve as trial and support zones where partners can do a test ride, charge, or swap batteries
  • Two EV models:
  1. Chargeable battery EVs: Recharge at Shadowfax hubs or centres
  2. Swappable battery EVs: Quickly swap batteries at designated swap zones
  • Flexible ownership model: Partners pay a minimal subscription fee and a refundable security deposit. The EV can be used for both deliveries and personal usage.

This model reduces the barrier to EV adoption and makes green mobility more accessible for the gig economy.

How Shadowfax’s EV Strategy Stands Out

In a competitive market of courier services in India, what makes Shadowfax's holistic approach:

  • Tech-enabled fleet management powered by SF Maps, which dynamically analyses traffic patterns, delivery density, and rider availability to ensure each delivery partner follows the most efficient route. This not only reduces battery drain and turnaround times but also boosts delivery precision and partner earnings.
  • Dedicated infrastructure for battery charging and swapping, including strategically located hubs, experience centres, and swap zones designed to keep delivery downtime minimal and partner convenience high.
  • Community-first mindset, giving delivery partners real economic and environmental value.
  • Hyperlocal delivery optimisation powered by EVs for Q-commerce and personal courier needs.

The integration of electric vehicles into everyday operations is not a checkbox initiative for Shadowfax. It’s a cornerstone of our vision to be the most forward-thinking logistics service in the country.

Sustainable Delivery for a Sustainable India

As Shadowfax expands its EV fleet to more cities and grows its network of hubs, swap zones, and experience centres, the future of logistics in India looks increasingly electric.

Our ambition is simple but powerful: Build a logistics ecosystem that balances speed, scale, and sustainability, without compromise.
