On-demand logistics startup Shadowfax is set to acquire the business assets of Nuvo Ex, an e-commerce focused specialized logistics business, for an undisclosed amount. The deal is almost closed, and the operational integration of both businesses has already begun.
Shadowfax, already a market leader in point-to-point delivery, services clients across the food, grocery, ecommerce, and pharma sectors. This acquisition will allow the merged business to expand its services to 75+ cities in India across multiple categories. The alliance will further optimize resources, bringing efficiencies through combined scale for both companies.
Nuvo Ex facilitates over 30,000 transactions daily through its reverse logistics network in over 75 cities. It also operates a unique store delivery network comprising 700+ local kirana stores (Paketts Network). The business serves over 40 clients, including top names like Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, Paytm, Myntra, and Jabong. Nuvo Ex was founded in 2013 by Navneet Singh & Milind Sharma.
The combined entity will handle 90,000+ transactions daily, with a workforce of 7,000+ delivery personnel and 400+ minivans, making it the largest last-mile enabler in India.
Navneet Singh, Co-founder and CEO of Nuvo Ex, emphasized the significance of the deal:
“We have immense respect for the Shadowfax team, having built a market-leading service through the challenges that hyperlocal businesses faced. It's a pleasure to join the highly efficient network that Shadowfax has developed. With Nuvo Ex’s strength in reverse logistics and store delivery, we are confident that Shadowfax will reach the next level in the overall logistics market."
Abhishek Bansal, Co-founder and CEO of Shadowfax, added:
“Nuvo Ex has built a specialized and customer-centric brand that promises superior service quality. The merger will increase customer density in urban cities and expand our presence in Tier 1 and 2 cities, leveraging Nuvo Ex’s operational expertise. We’re excited about this partnership and expect it to accelerate our journey toward EBITA profitability by 2018.”
Aditya Systla, Vice President at Eight Roads Ventures, commented:
“This acquisition marks the next chapter in Shadowfax’s journey to become the market leader in intra-city express logistics. Nuvo Ex adds geographical reach and logistical expertise. The two companies share a strong commitment to exceptional customer service and execution, and we look forward to the potential they can unlock together.”
