Gone are the days when customers were willing to wait days for an online order to arrive. Today, instant gratification is expected, just like walking into a store and walking out with a product. Shadowfax is leading the charge in meeting these expectations by becoming the first company in India to guarantee 4-hour deliveries in select cities.
Taking a bold step in the on-demand logistics space, Shadowfax is making instant delivery a standard. With its 4-hour delivery model, the company empowers online platforms to offer near-instant fulfillment, transforming how customers shop digitally. This shift is especially crucial as brands, both digital natives and traditional retailers, look for ways to bridge the gap between online convenience and offline immediacy.
This is why players like Xiaomi, Myntra, First Cry, Urban Ladder, Lenskart, and Zivame are investing in physical stores, while retail brands like Shoppers Stop, Pantaloons, Soch, and Abof are going online. The emerging online-to-offline (O2O) model, where orders are placed online but fulfilled through nearby physical outlets, is a $64 billion opportunity in India.
At Shadowfax, the focus has always been on enhancing customer experience. By stepping into the O2O space, the company not only enables lightning-fast delivery but also levels the playing field for small merchants competing with retail giants. Strategic partnerships with platforms like PayTM, BigBasket Specialty, and 1mg have helped bring this vision to life.
These platforms boast extensive networks of local merchants. Shadowfax integrates with them to enable real-world delivery, a model that has seen success in global markets like China, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. However, Shadowfax has adapted it for India's unique challenges.
“We’ve built a hybrid model combining hyperlocal delivery with traditional scheduled e-commerce delivery. By extending our API to marketplace operators, we can determine in real-time whether an order qualifies for 4-hour delivery — using rider availability, store location, and live traffic predictions via our proprietary ML algorithms,” said Sarthak Patnaik, Director Operations — Process Design, Shadowfax.
“If an order can be delivered within 4 hours, we route it for immediate fulfillment. Otherwise, it’s scheduled for next-day delivery through our e-commerce operations. Our integration also provides real-time order tracking to clients,” added Varun Jain, Senior Software Developer at Shadowfax.
This model was successfully piloted with PayTM and has since expanded into grocery and medicine deliveries. Shadowfax is now ready to scale this solution across more O2O platforms, driving a new era of digital commerce defined by speed and efficiency.
Shadowfax is India’s trusted partner for speed and reliable delivery, serving 14,300+ PIN Codes across 2,200 cities.
